Optimal Twist on a 416?
      #58757 - 13/06/06 09:56 PM

I am currently having a 416 Rigby built. The barrel has just been ordered in 1:14 twist. I have been thinking that since I want to be able to shoot longer mono metal bullets in it as well as heavy for caliber (for example the 450 gr Woodleigh) lead core bullets I should maybe get a faster rate of twist from the standard to be sure that the bullets will be adequately stabilized.

What do you guys think? What would be the best twist considering that I want to be able to shoot long/heavy bullets, but also want to be able to use lighter bullets for PG and such.

Are there any deleterious effects from going to a faster twist?

Any comments appreciated.
