In Zimbabwe I have hunted with the following two outfitters and both provided what was promised in a competent manner:

***

Bulembu Safaris and Butch Walker, Zimbabwe 1994. Wayne Jardine was the PH. A plains game hunt near West Nicholson with kudu, eland, zebra, warthog, impala, duiker, wildebeest being taken. Also part of my honeymoon .

***

Pierre van Wyk whom at the time operated as Nemba Safaris, Zimbabwe 2002. Pierre was also the PH and we hunted on his private farm in the Gwayi Valley and later we hunted in the Matetsi Safari Area.

Game taken at Nemba in the Gwayi Valley Conservancy included: waterbuck; chobe bushbuck; zebra; & impala.

Game taken in the Matetsi area was cape buffalo and another zebra.

I believe Pierre now is or was running luxury tented safari hunting for HHK.

I would without reservation reccommend Bushman Safaris of Zimbabwe. I have hunted with them for 8 safaris and have been pleased with each one. They have areas in the Matetesi and Turk Mine areas and cover all plains game and Elephant. Buffalo is available in their area but not Lion at present time as there is a moratorium on Lion in Matabeleland. They have an excellent pack of hounds and are VERY successful on Leopard. Excellant camp near Victoria Falls. They can be reached at bushman@netconnect.co.zw.

My first Safari in June of 2004 was with HHK Safaris.
It was excellent.

My second Safari in March was with Brooklands Safaris. It too was excellent.

My third Safari will be in Oct 2006 with Brooklands.

Recommend an Outfitter - Ndumo Safaris, Namibia [Re: Safaris]
      #64696 - 26/10/06 06:12 PM

Ndumo Safaris, Karl Stumpfe

Ndumo Safaris prinicpal is Karl Stumpfe. I hunted with Ndumo and Karl in Namibia in August 2006 this year in the Kalahari and in near Windhoek for plains game.

I actually did not intend to hunt in Namibia and was primarily hunting cow elephant in the Zambezi Valley with a holiday planned afterwards in South Africa with my wife, with the hope of some pig hunting for a day or two while in South Africa. I mentioned I might also be interested in springbok and gemsbok and also hunting Namibia one day and when Karl heard about this he invited me to hunt with him in Namibia and planned a hunting safari to meet my wishes. We ended up deciding on a hunt for springbok and gemsbok in the Kalahari because I always wanted to hunt there, but he also urged me to hunt near Windhoek and in the end he convinced me, to my benefit.

Karl and Ndumo are also able to arrange safaris in South Africa and Zimbabwe where he also arranges hunts as the PH with a Zimbabwean outfitter primarily in the Zambezi Valley, including buffalo and elephant. Another possible concession elsewhere in the future was discussed and I hope it works out as it would make an excellent additional area for great hunts.

As the outfitter AND the PH you are dealing with one guy and know what you arrange with the outfitter will happen because they are the one and the same guy. Everything was organised as planned, the accomodations exceeded what was arranged.

Karl promised me the food at the Gochas accomodation which was a small country hotel would be excellent and I was not disappointed. The chef and co-owner was a lady who had won the award for the best chef in Namibia that year, and even simple requests for food were done extravagantly in a gourmet fashion. Lunches were more simple, but could be gourmet pies, sandwiches, and some freshly braaied chops, steaks or sausages cooked under a tree in the desert dunes. Karl seeing my winemaking and vineyard background arranged some very nice South African wines to try as well as excellent Namibian beers with the meals and in the evenings.

The accomodations were comfortable, neat and cool. Both accomodations had swimming pools if the client has the time or desire, and were especially suitable if a family safari was planned. No problem in bringing a wife or children along. In fact I am of the opinion Namibia would make an ideal location for a first safari or a family safari, as the countryside while often wild desert is civilised and quite Western in feel. It did not feel a lot unlike home in the Australian outback in the Southern parts I visited.

My disappointment was not arranging a longer safari and visiting some of the Northern properties and concessions which Karl has, where he also has elephant and buffalo on licence, and also visiting parks like Etosha and some of the other tourist sites in Namibia. But however a future trip will be planned.

As many people often ask whom to hunt with on NitroExpress.com I am always eager to find good reputable outfitters in the various hunting regions around the world to be able to recommend, and I'm happy to recommend Ndumo Safaris for Namibia. Having personally hunted with Karl and Ndumo Safaris I can add my my personal experiences to that recommendation.

I have been to Zimbabwe on two hunts and am planning on going back in May of 2008 with Chifuti Safaries which I have heard only good things about. Having said that...

Someone I would NOT GO WITH is a guy by the name of Lloyd Yateman--he has a bad reputation among those in his profession--his brother Kent is another blow hole I would run away from..Together they run a horrible operation. totally mismanaged--poor equipment --and all around untruthful about almost everything.

Their equipment was in very, very poor shape--when I hunted with them in 2004 I was with 2 other hunters--one of the hunters had to sit in his hut the first 3 days--because the clutch was out of one of the vehicles--

Every day we had to push to vehicles to get them started..the trackers complained to me about not being paid since the last hunt--told me that they would only work GOOD if I paid them some money on the side--It was my FIRST African experience and it was a horrible experience at that---

I strongly recommend Limcroma Safaris with Hannes Els

Check them out at www.limcroma.com and check out some of our trophies at http://web.mac.com/hunter_elam

We just returned from 23 days hunting with Limcroma and I can tell you it was fantastic! Incredible hunting and absolute 5 star accommodations. It was the best vacation (hunting or otherwise) my wife and I have ever been on and by far it was the best hunt too… We took 36 fantastic trophies and had the experience of a lifetime.

All the best!

Hunter

I've hunted with two so far, HHK in Zim and Tanzania Gametracker Safaris in Tanzania. I would highly recommend either, but hunting in the two countries is not very similar with different needs by the hunter and responsibilities by the safari company.
I'm looking forward to hunting with Luke Samaras Safaris in Tanzania in a few months. While I have no experience with them yet in the field, to date they have not offered the over-the-top customer service that TGT provided prior to my hunt my hunt with them. We'll just have to see how things work out after spending a few weeks with them in the Selous.

I had a wonderful first safari with Roger Whittall Safaris in Zimbabwe's Sapi concession, and at Humani. Humani has a tremendous amount of game and the camp staff was very good. You can expect to be treated like family there. Roger and Anne are wonderful people. Sarah and Guy are super as well. I recommend RWS to anyone wanting to experience Africa with friendly outgoing people. -Max Weaver

I have hunted 4 times with Mark Kyriacou in Botswana.
All 4 hunts were in the Okavango Delta. Two times I have added days in the Kalahari first at Clive Eaton's Ranch than at Mark's ranch.
Twice I've hunted Buffalo and each time I also took plains game. Total bag:Delta - Buffalo 2, Impala 4, Tessebe 4, Red Lechewe 2, Warthog 2, Kudu 1, Hyena 1, Kalahari: Kudu 1, Zebra 2, Ostrich 1, Gemsbok 1

PHs Glen Munger, George Kyriacou, Lee Potter

I have no hesitation in recommending Mark Kyriacou's Big Game and Bird Safaris ,www.biggameandbirdsafaris.com, or Clive Eaton's Ranch. I also highly recommend the three PHs that I have hunted with.

Dannaud Safaris 21, avenue Thierry - 92410 Ville d'avray - Tél.: (33) 1 41 15 58 50 - Fax : (33) 1 47 09 51 79
Cell : (33) 6 61 51 70 80 - dannaud@dannaudsafaris.com

I haven't booked with this outfitter but I am graced to know and appreciate him. Quite a few friends have booked with him. For what I know, all were extremely satisfied.

Francois Dannaud is a seasonned outfitter and is hunting on the 5 continents.

His speciality is taylor made hunting or touring destinations. He is a specialist of Ethiopia and Ouganda, but cattered for all the usual hunting grounds.
His reputation is also very high for Asia hunting and he has good links with South American PHs.
He knows well and worked with prominents outfitters in RSAk,Zim, Moz and Botswana.

In fact he can offer top hunting anywhere. He is looking for very special hunts. Either place or trophy, or both.
His last offer was for bear hunting in Romania. As the law would forbid beat hunt for bear, he offered me the last possible bear hunt there.

A good part of his clients don't want to have their hunts known and aired. They want an unforgetable experience in not usual hunting grounds for unusual trophies. Some want Champagne safaris. And little chance they will enter the book or display in the huntingreport.
Others want an exceptionnal event, like their wedding with guests in an incredible place, for example Ngorongoro crater
.
In France he is a hunter, with horses and hounds.

Quite a caracter Francois. Low profile and top hunting.

I wish he could write a book.

HHK - Marty Wood

Richard Cooke - Richard Cooke Safaris

Either way skip Bulawayo and go through Vic Falls.

Stay for a few days after you hunt.

We are very happy at both the Vic Falls Hotel or the Safari Lodge, but the best of all was staying at the home of a friend.
