Very nice 57 year old rifle Eric. I came across one a couple of months ago but the price was ridiculous. The man's response to my stunned look was "I really do not want to sell it". How does she shoot and who makes the bases/rings?

Adam,

The bases and rings were just some that were laying around amongst some other stuff, and aren't marked, so I'm not sure who made them. The rifle was originally my grandfathers, and he shot numerous Roe deer with it throughout the years. Unfortunatly, .22 Hornet is now too weak to use for game this size legally, so it is not used much. I shot it quite a lot some years ago, and it's an accurate rifle.

As for the guy wanting some ridiculous amount of money for one, I have to admit that I have no idea what the "going rate" is for them. What did the guy ask for?

I have a BRNO in .22 with similar rings and mounts and all I can say is that it is a wonderful rifle.Bought it about 15 years ago in London for 200 pounds along with a silencer which cost only 20 pounds.Shot a lot of crows from my rooftop without anybody knowing about it.

Eric

The price over here for one of those rifles is $600-$700. He was asking quite a bit more.

Erik,

A lovely little rifle! When your daughter is older it would be a fantastic rifle for her to learn to shoot with. In the meantime, of course, it is certain to give you some fine hunting.

Congratulations!

Mehul,

Funny you should say that. Because it's exactly what I "graduated" to, after first learning to shoot my grandfathers Brno .22LR!

So I look forward to my daughter and son going the same route one day in the future, when they reach the right age.

Erik

Erik,

Two future hunters is fantastic!

Funny but many of the Indians here as well as on other forums learned to shoot with Brno No 1 and 2s in 22 lr. They were very popular in India in the 1970s and early 80s before imports were banned and some tens of thousands of the rifles are still in service there.

I had a Walther KK in 22 lr, my first magazine rifle a long time ago and I learned the hard way that it did not shoot as well as the Brno No 1s did. Yes, these old rifles were fantastic! It is sad that the replacements from CZ are not as good as the old ones were. Your mint 465 is a treasure.

Cheers!
