Has anyone else tried the 325wsm?What did you think?I have been waiting for my chance to try one since i heard about them.I got to bench test one in the Kimber classic 8400.I like it,it shoots great/accurate ,the recoil in the light rifle was very manageable,no where near what i was expecting,I think its a winner!I got a 3 shot 3/4in.group at 100 yards with factory winchester 220gr.power points.Factory ammo is loaded pretty max...bolt lift was stiff.The 325wsm is a little medium bore powerhouse!medium bore big game hunters are gonna love it!I recommend it highly!I have never shot any medium bore or 8mm 323.caliber cartridge i didnt like.....

I'll take a pnt that the 325WSM will be one of the first WSM's to dissapear
from the product line.

That's not to say it isn't good, just wrong calibre (.323).

Just my HO.

I shoot an 8*68S and the 325 WSM has some merits as an all arounder more so Than the 270 or the 300. I like 8mm rounds they work very well in the field, but as for popularity? Well if the 8mm Mauser has not caught on yet I cannot see the .325 running away with popularity

I'm not sure that it would disappear - the Kimber 8400s are selling well from what I have heard. But then they are lovely rifles and that, perhaps, is a reason why they sell....

I shoot a 8x68 as well. Here is an article I wrote on the caliber (same ballistic class, the x68 just better at handling 220gr bullets).

Yes, they are CRF. The older ones would only feed from the magazine but the new ones which I saw at GAnder Mountain in St Louis can be single fed into the chamber if you want to.

I also have a 8x57, but the J version made in 1953 in Austria. Shot my first kudu bull with it, growing up in Namibia...

II work in a gun shop here in Columbia, S.C. and .325s are doing pretty well here and there is hardly anything here that requires it. Every Browning we've had has sold pretty fast and the Kimbers are doing well also. I predict the Rugers will be hot once we start seeing a few. I want a .325 myself but I want it in the Winchester 1885 High Wall. Don't think they've shipped any yet which is just as well as I have too many irons in the fire right now.

If the bolt is lifting hard then the pressure is too high!!!! High pressure is where the short mags get the claim of equaling bigger cartridges. For example the 300 WSM is loaded to 62,000 PSI and this load is compaired to a 300 Winchester mag loaded to 52,000. All things being equal such as barrel length and such case capisity rules for velosity. The only way to increase velosity is to either go to a bigger case and add powder or to increase pressures. A good example of this is the .450 # 2 NE and the .458 Winchester. In the .458 you have to stuff in somthing like 69 grains of IMR 3031 and compress the hell out of it to get around the 2,000 FPS range and you will have around 45,000 CUP. In the .450 # 2, 90 grains of Rl 15 or 100 grains of H 4831 do not even come close to filling the case as a matter of fact you will need some type of filler, velosity will be around 2100 FPS at 25,000 CUP or less.
One more point, as pressure goes up so does tempriture so I will be intrested to see how the short mag barrels last compared to their big brothers.

I believe that 52,000 is a CUP number and not a PSI number. I don't know what the SAAMI max pressure limit is for the .300 Win Mag but Alliant is showing loads in the 60,000-61,000 PSI range.
