Andre,

A beautiful rifle. Some details, please.

And does Gehmann still make the action under their own name these days? If I understand the patents to the 66's telescoping bolt design expired a few years ago.

Thanks and Good Hunting!

This is the rifle I found for my son-in-law. It came from a liquidating collector, unfired 7x64. I since fitted it with a vintage Swaro Nova 1,5-6x42 in a swingout EAW mount, so that everything is contemporary.

In my knowledge, these rifles were interrupted in the late 70ties. because of manufacturing costs and production was never resumed. There's a German Cy. which still makes custom bbls. for them though

Andre,

Thanks for the information - your son in law is doubly lucky to have a wife and a father in law who adore him!

Cheers!

Do you have any contact info on the company that make barrel for these rifles?

I have been looking for another barrel for mine off & on for 20 years with no luck.

I have a Mauser 66 in a 243.

I would love to upgrade to a larger caliber.

Sure have. Mauser Werke recommends this German Cy. for discontinued spare parts :

Gustav Jehn GmbH, Postfach 1827, 59528 Lippstadt, Tel: 0294129090, Fax: 02941-23418, E-Mail: gustav@jehn.de
http://www.jehn.de/index_e.html

If the barrel you want is in inventory, this would be the fastest way.

However I happen to know that the actual barrel maker is :
http://www.henneberger.de/

And he can make one to order (NB: a friend of mine also has a '66 in .243 and he's ordered a 9,3x62 bbl.)
