Just curious...who is J. Fanzoi?

I saw a .470 for sale by this company and I'm not familiar with it. Here are a few pics of this sidelock. The engraving is a little over the top for me, but it's still nice.

Johann Fanzoi is an old Austrian firm. As you mentioned, like most Austrian doubles, they're kinda cuckoo-clockish, but the quality is sound. The firm has a good reputation.

Shit, Mickey,

Anybody who can cull a .369 Purdey would know nothing about cockoo clockish DR's!

My hat's off to you, man.

Only 21K. But it has a fitting for claw mounts, which makes it much less desirable, IMO.

Johann is a nice young guy from an old family of Austrian gunmakers. He used to come to the Winter Vegas Show but haven't seen him a few years. He has a beautiful sister who does some or all of the engraving.

The current Johan Fanzoj is a descendant of the original Johan Fanzoj who founded the company in the 1870s. Hannes Fanzoj is the manager handling sales. They are very nice people to talk to and they make lovely guns. I have had some extensive correspondence with them and have a standing invitation from Hannes to hunt chamois with him, something that I hope to do someday.

If you need any information, do let me know.
