A-Square rifles?
      #54124 - 05/04/06 08:12 AM

Anyone with field experience with A-Square rifles? Quality? Reliablity?
Value? Husband of friend of my wife died and she wants to sell. Rifle in another city so I haven't seen. Caliber is 375 H& Thanks for your input.

I asked earler about Ruger in 416 Ribgy. I already have a 375, so my first thought would be to turn the A-Square into a 416 Ribgy. OK idea or dumb?

Arizona,

They are styled like clubs. If you like that and the price is right go for it.

Don't even consider buying it unless you can go see it in person and handle it first. The stocks on them are built to massive proportions.

I noticed one used A-Square rifle I saw for sale several years ago, when i picked it up, I felt like the gun might slide out of my hands because the stock was so big. I'm only a 6'2" 220 lb peewee type though.

Still, holding that one rifle killed my desire to own an A-Square.

Richard

They're like clubs alright, and they're very big and heavy. Workmanship is just OK, and I don't like the uncheckered stocks.

One PH I've hunted with told me that he had a client who came out with a pair of A-Square rifles some 16 years ago, and he had feeding trouble and other trouble with both of them, plus being on the heavy side they were slow to get into action..........
