Dakota 97 vs 76...???
      #52702 - 18/03/06 08:12 AM

Hello again,

I was wondering if anyone knew the difference in the model 97 and 76 from Dakota? The 97 looks like a pretty nice rifle starting at $2300 for a plains game gun. I have heard that the mod 70 which the dakota is based on was not as good as the mauser 98 for protecting the shooter from gas and brass in the event of a ruptured case. Is this addressed with the 97? If so, it would be pretty nice in 300 H&H.

Best

The 97 has a clamped recoil lug like a Remington700,
a cylindrical reciever like a 700,
a trigger like a 700.
But I suppose the 97 still has CRF, Dakotas bolt release, welded bolt handle, 3pos.safety.
I see them as being overpriced.
