Goddamn

The way those scopes are set up, you'd have to pluck your eyeball out of the ocular lens cavity after each shot!

I'd have to say thatsomeone outfitted with that rig is ready to kill anything on this planet, as well as several others I've visited.

Shifted to the double rifle forum.

I have added this rifle with more photos and description to a thread
on the DR archive forum as well - here .

The bore centres will probably be found to be almost identically spaced.

I think the space between the barrels obn the 375 make the gun look ugly or cheap.

Gryph,
As Daryl says the spacing at the breech would be the same.
The barrels at the top are tilted slightly away from the camera where the lower set are square on.
The tilting makes the spacing on the top set appear closer than the lower set.
Notice also that the 375 top barrel has a thicker profile than the bottom barrel on the same rifle.
All to do with the adjustable regulation I 'spose but it looks a little strange IMO.
Nice setup though!

Tar for that 4seventy,i dont like the idea of a stick possibly jamming between the barrels all the frigging time in the scrub...be bad if an animal was charging at you and a stick jammed while swinging the rifle...or the same happened while swinging on a big stag

The frame of the rifle is large enough for 12 gauge shotgun barrels. The .458 barrels are close enough to "fit" together nicely but for the .375 barrels they have chosen to keep the double rifles weight down by separating them. This also allows the barrel set to be able to be self-regulated and makes the rifle very versatile. With the scope on the .375 it would make a dandy plains rifle and a big bore barrel set in .458 a DGR as well. 12g barrels instead of the usual 20g set makes the shotgun barrels more versatile too.

Usually most doubles like this are made on a 20g frame.

Gryphon is very right. This set makes a very nice one gun "world" hunting rifle. Even though it is in under and over configuration which many here do not like.

I dont think too many would turn their nose up at it JH there may be purists in the side x side sense but it would be welcome addition to most gun safes even just for bragging rights

I know some people here will disagree, but I like the self regulating system. It is seen on the pictures on photo archives.

This way, you can use any bullet weight you prefer, and if you change your mind latter, you can ajust it all over again. The fact that the barrels are separated is just a cosmetic feature, and I think that you would forget about it soon. I would, at least. Besides, it probably helps in cooling the barrels off after firing.

DGF,

I am with you regarding the functionality of the 375 barrels. After shooting my Valmets with similar design and my Lajot with conventional soldered ribs, I am of the opinion the Kreighoff 375 will give one viable 3rd and 4th shots quickly, whereas the the classic configuration won't. I like the older classic soldered ribs for looks, but only for that reason.

The 375 is a far better PG configuration, IMO. Those scopes scare the Hell out of me, however... One case of "magnum eyebrow" was enough to last me a lifetime.
