Opinions on this? Is this a desirable double?

Yes, quite a few 405 Win DR's are around - a freidn has one here.

Not exactly a DG DR but for pigs and other light game they are fine.

I like them as they are often quite a light frame and light weight
double rifle and great for shooting pigs here in Aus.

Yeah, why not? Actually, I think that all and any of the rimmed cases are desirable in a DR. You name it: 22 Hornet, 30-30, 32-40, 38-55, 405, 303, 444, 45-70. There are some nuts out there who are building DR's in 50-90!!!

Especially now with easy brass available.

About equivalent to a .400 Purdey Straight, if I'm not mistaken. A great cartridge.

I think it would make a wonderful rifle for North America, especially big bears and most game in Africa with proper bullets.

The German-made Manton .405 double on the Saunders' website is now sold, but the details are still there.

My mate Rob has an identical specimen, in mint condition with the works, and he likes it a lot!
