$14,995 cleaning kit at Vegas show
      #50008 - 15/02/06 12:34 PM

Yeah, a $14,995 cleaning kit from Fabbri and a $8995 version for those of you on the cheap. I'd like to say they were really special, but they were not. $500 would still be too much.

Disappointments:
1) For the umpteenth year in a row, the Piottis with fiddle wood were improperly sanded and had whoop d doos.

2) The Chapuis double rifles just looked and felt cheap.

3) The Blaser S2 double rifle is an abortion. Overly heavy (3 pounds more than my Searcy), odd designs (has to be a French designer). It's got more rubber and plastic than a Matel toy. Secondary cocking mechanism designed to give dangerous game an advantage. It is hard to cock and decocking the system snaps your thumb hard enough to hurt. I asked when the design flaws would be dealt with and the answer was "What design flaws?"

4) A Daly/Sauser drilling in 12x12x38-55 which was overpriced by double or I would have taken it home.

5) Another disappointment was that the Mandalay bay show on the ground floor was the most dealer friendly location we have ever had at a Beinfeld show. That is disappointing because it will never be held there again. Go figure.

Neat things:

1) Tony's RBL is really nice. It will be worth the wait, guys.

2) Holland & Holland .240 Flanged for $13.9K. Drool bib time!

3) More neat American doubles than one could even dream of.

4) Hundreds of Brit doubles and MANY DB rifles. Lots of Kraut guns, too.

5) Lots of return old customers:::Thanks, guys

6) Dinner: sparkling conversation and fine company...and I only told one lawyer joke. Well, of course, there are only two lawyer jokes. The rest are true stories.

7) Got to check the bank account, my local shop owner came back with a dead mint 1918 US 1911 and a Luger Artillery with a shortened barrel (affordable). He sold 61 guns at the show and bought 101 guns.

8) I love it when a show begins well early. I did $7 grand at the beginning of the set-up day.

9) Oddly enough, my Searcy 470 with extra set of 12 Ga barrels did not sell, so it is still available, guys.

10) Added to my collection of fine turquoise cabs and am cutting bunch of gold in quartz if anyone is interested.

11) Next year the show is the first weekend in January and will be back at the Riviera Hotel.
