Just kind of wondering. Or did they wear out and get replaced?

Alot - and I am talking THOUSANDS - got sent to the US
in one hit. Probably quite a few left here but in 1's and 2's
in collections so no big buy up available - you would need
to pick them up individually.

Usually a gun shop will have two or three on the racks.

I bought a few years ago a SMLE No.1 MkIII, maybe just as a wall hanger (can't actually hang it on the wall now) and didn't even check, but later found all the serial numbers on the parts all were original. Lucky find.

I'm still on the look out for a cut down SMLE in .303 and another in .25/.303. But I'm cheap and don't want to pay much. Twenty five years ago they were quite common.

Longstanding friend of mine, living in this area all his life, ammassed around 300 of them after the long-gun registry went into operation here.
: Most of them are sporterized and many are junk, but there are some good shooters, set aside for his family's use. Their VERY large family used #3's and #4's since the early 50's.
: I even have a couple hanging around, a #3, .303 and a #4 in .312 Express.(Ken Waters wildcat version)

Personally I'm not a 303 fan but they are / were
still good rifles and accurate.

I've would have bought some of the 303's
over some of the Enhlish guns sold in the US !!!
