Which Italian Sharps carbine?
      #46611 - 14/01/06 04:32 PM

Hello,
I'm considering buying an Italian Sharps carbine in 45-70 for informal target shooting and some short range deer hunting. The two brands available here are IAB and Pedersoli. Is there any difference in accuracy between the two? For Hunter's Qualification I must hit a 4" circle at 70 yards with 3 bullets (from sandbags); would that be a problem? I mean for the Sharps carbine, I'm quite good in rifle shooting. Thanks.

Kind regards,
Lovec

I have had a great shooting Pederoseli rifle for a couple of years now in 45-70. The last IAB sharps I had, I had \some problems with.

I have an Italian Sharps action, with an original 22" .50/70 Sharps carbine barrel(lined 1859 percussion bl.). For a time, it was being shot by a friend, who managed 4 out of 5 rams at 450yards, off cross-sticks with straight BP loads that had been loaded for almost a year. It has original open Sharps sights with blade front and flip-up elevator rear.
: The carbine will work, but a 28" or 30" bl will be better & kick much less. Even with only 76gr.2G, the light Carbine kicks pretty good for accuracy shooting - but a delighful hunting rifle it is.

I had some rather bad problems with an ARMSPORT carbine I will not own another.
