check this Eland!!!!
      #4508 - 22/10/03 03:40 AM

Hi Folks,

I've just got back from a months hunting with 2 seperate clients in the Selous Reserve where amongst all the Buffalo, Hippo & Lion we hunted we managed to take this E A Eland. He measured a tad over 40 inches and should make a new #4 in the Rowland Ward Records of Big Game. The client was a 70 year old Brit and he took it with a .375 H&H from over 200 yards............ hope you enjoy it.

If anyone is interested, I still have two vacancies in early November.............. plug plug!!!!

Wow. They are a much prettier animal than the Cape version aren't they.

Very nice Eland !!! I'd seen some big Elands in the Selous area, may be the biggest I ever seen, but they are very hard to get.

I hunt a few different areas in the Selous, but this area holds plenty of Eland. We saw a few of similar size or perhaps slightly smaller, and a hell of a lot that were good representatives of the species. Any hunter who hunted this area and was a reasonably good shot could be fairly sure of taking a pretty good specimen........ problem is that they only occur on long licences, so it's far from cheap.

Probably why there are so many of them!

I took a big one in Madaba river, south Rufiji River in the Middle of Selous in a 21 days safari. There're lots of Elands in South Tanzania too, in Usangu River, but they are pretty much smaller and easy to hunt than others in Selous.
