Guns I should have bought
      #44870 - 26/12/05 05:55 AM

I was looking through a bunch of Sotheby's Catalogs this morning, searching for a picture of a Jeffery's Farquharson. I didn't realize how many very nice rifles I could have purchased if I would have more money.

Some spectacular rifles and shotguns have been sold I have little to show for it.

I'm depressed.

All few years (3) ago in the UK - then all were good buys at the time
and I should have had a better go at them.

Rigby Bissell Rising Third Bite Sidelock Ejector in 470 Nitro

Holland & Holland 12 Gauge Single Trigger Pidgeon Gun

Purdey 12 Gauge Pidgeon Gun

+ a few more which I will try to remember - after all, I try
to forget the ones I should have bought and didn't !!!

I let a nice 450/400 Evans go. It's on Champlin's museum site, great gun. Some guys that have become good friends were advising me to buy it. If I had only known then what I know now!

Oh well, it's fun to be looking

Never had enough cash in the past, so too many missed opportunities to list. Just thankfull to have been able to examine a great many, shoot a few, and own a couple!

The moral of this story, though, is:

DON'T MISS THE NEXT ONE!!!

Two that come immediately to mind was the first 600NE ever made and an 8 Bore Jeffery (Westley?) with Fluid Steel barrels engraved to look like Damascus.

Some Aussie posters will know both rifles.

A much more Heart Wrenching list would be guns I should have kept and not sold.
