Muzzle loading books for X-Mass
      #44566 - 22/12/05 03:03 AM

Feller's

The wife is asking me what I want/need for X-mass. Many people have suggested different books on the subject of Muzzleloading and pratical muzzleloader gunsmithing.

Any chance I could get some titles and/or authors that people recommend. Any suggestion would be helpful, as I'm interested in all aspects from hunting to history. Especially DG and BP big bore guns including doubles.

I'm just now getting back into shooting and guns so I have a very limited library currently.

Thanks all,
Colorado

The Sam Fadala book is the best by far... especially if you are interested in historical black powder arms. Too many of the writers have bought into the high velocity inline craze but Sam treats the subject accurately. If you can find a copy the Lyman Black Powder Handbook it is another excellent starting point for a new muzzleloader. Another good read and something that is free is Doc White's article at www.whitemuzzleloading.com on the effectiveness of heavy weight conicals compared to sabots.
