The dead tiger found at the scene - Ministry of the Interior Photo

Seven people have been arrested in Badajoz for taking part in illegal safaris in which at least one tiger has been shot. The seven people, including one woman and the 16 year old son of the owner of the estate where the hunting has been taking place, were arrested by Seprona, the environmental wing of the Civil Guard.

They were alerted to the activity by neighbours and also by the high fences, some of them electrified, round the estate at Monterrubio de la Serena, in Badajoz. It appears that the animals including tigers, lions and wolves, were acquired in zoos and then were let loose on the estate only to be shot dead for sport.

The arrests took place last Saturday, but the Ministry of the Interior has only just given details of the affair. At the moment the Civil Guard arrived those arrested were removing the head and skin of the shot tiger as trophies.

A lion was found in a cage on the estate, presumably in preparation for another illegal safari hunt.

Almost lions hunted in Southafrica (I mean "canned hunts") are from Spain too .

This people paid more than 20.000€ to shot a blind lioness or a very old tigers. There were found some Linx bones there too .
Those animals was inside a small cage, the shooter stayed up in a tree stand, some one opened the cage and the animal were shot. That's not hunting at all
