Statrt getting those New Year hunting resolutions going, what hunts do you hope to do in 2006?

2006 is going to be a typical year for me, it seems. The only plan I have right now (before the drawing results are announced) is a sheep hunt. Been discussing a brown bear hunt with my hunting partner, but he's still undecided.

Draw results come out in the next 6 weeks or so, that could change a lot of things. I'll still do the sheep hunt, but the location could change or a goat might get added to that.

A late season deer hunt is planned as well.

DPhillips,

If you're planning on that 14C, 1 tag, new area,......think again.....I'm feeling lucky....

NitroX,

Drew for sheep last season, but no joy......spent 45 days before that doing it for others....that may change this year.
Fly in for caribou probably, unless I draw a caribou tag this spring.
Spring bear and feeder kings a certainty.

I'm planning a three week fly in trip up around Dease Lake with stone sheep and mountain caribou being the primary targets. Also open is moose and goat, and if I get the draw grizzly as well. "Base" camp will be set up on the lake, but we'll be living out of our packs above tree line for the most part. Weight loss is inevitable.

Joe,
Oh no you don't. I've already got my sheep patterned!!!

With the luck I have in our drawings, you don't have any worries about me, trust me!

We are planning a tril to Wy. for mule deer and antelope. I have been trying to draw a sheep tag here in /Id. for years, hopefully this will be the year. Maybe blackm bear this spring, lion here pretty soon and in the spring to Ca. for hogs.

Here in Arizona, you can't plan anything. You can only hope for the draw.

So far I can plan to hunt Javelina in Feb because I was drawn for the first time in three years. Thats right, Javalina! the only reason i lucked out is that it is a HAM hunt (Handgun,Archery,Muzzleloader)

I take that back, I can and do plan to hunt Coyotes, Fox, Bobcat, Fall Black Bear, and Mountain Lion. since they are all over the counter tags or on the general license.

At least I get to go out after something.

I think I may learn to hate everyone who can hunt multiple deer every year in their state.

or at least be green with envy!!

My youngest daughter is starting college out-of-state this year, so I'll be spending a lot of time getting her installed and adjusted into all of that. So my hunting will be limited this year.

But I will hunt Zimbabwe for a couple of weeks this season, and later on I'll hunt elk here in Oregon. But that'll be about it.........

I had booked my first Africa trip, a plainsgame hunt in Namibia for the July 2006 for me, my son and my wife to come along. 12 days hunting and 2 days touring. My son is 16 and in 10th grade. It appears that this summer has other plans for my son. School obligations, drivers ed., and a host of other kid things. So we'll have to table Namibia for a gradution present in 2008.
This year we'll just have to shoot some pigs, whitetail and pheasant.

I sent an email to my outfitter in RSA regarding a hunt in Zimbabwe and didn't especially like the reply.....wasn't cold but not warm either. So I'm looking at South America, Aussieland, and even Canada. Maybe not make a hunt this year but certainly want to get one pinned down soon.
