Woodleigh bullets for my 416
      #4338 - 07/10/03 03:44 PM

This past year I bought a Ruger 77 in 416 Rigby. I decided to have my reloads done using the Woodleigh 410 grain bullets, in softs and solids. What's your opinion of the Woodleigh's? I plan on using it for Cape Buffalo.

They're the bullets I would use in a .416. With complete confidence.

If 500nitro ever drops in on "his" forum maybe he could comment seeing he is an expert on Woodleighs.

Mike

I love Woodleighs. I probably have 2500-3000 in different large calibers in my loading room right now. I just got 500 more from 500Nitro in August. I shoot them in all of my large bores and load for all of my friends for theirs.

They are designed for Nitro velocities though. If you are loading your Rigby up to the Weatherby speeds they might not work as well as they could.

I don't like screwing with a bunch of different stuff for loads. When I get one that I like I stick to it and am a poor referance for all of the new and improved stuff coming out daily.

I'm not the least bit mechanically inclined, so I have a friend do my reloading. He does it on a professional basis(it's his business). He's be loading them to factory specs. Unfortunately, he's had the test loads done for a few months now, but he had surgery on his wrist which kept him away from the shooting bench for a couple of months, and now whenever he's had time to get out to the range for testing, the winds have just been too strong for accuracy tests. Hopefully mother nature will start to cooperate.
