First day of the season, got a 6 point buck. That's a record for me, I have never taken a deer this early.

Is a 6-point, a 3x3 or 6 points on each side? Forgive my ignorance on whitetails and North Amer hunting nomenclature.

Congrats on the buck! Lets see the picture soon. Our season starts this saturday. I have my eye on a real nice buck. I hope he gives me a shot! We'll see. I have a handful of doe tags this year also. I have a friend from Germany (he lives here in the states now) who loves venison but does not hunt. I give him venison and he brings German beer back to the states for me. This is a great deal for me. I can keep hunting and get great beer to

Regarding your questions on points. It depends who you are talking to. In the Eastern part of the states we count all points on both sides and total them up. Out West they tend to count points on each side seperately. For example, What I would call a 10 point, some one out West would call a 5 point or 5x5. Confused yet?

I will take some photos tomorrow before I skin him out. He's not nearly as big on antler size as the 6 point I took last year but none-the-less, he's a buck with a bow. He will be very good eating for sure.
