All,

My father recently purchased a rifle that was supposed to be a 300 weatherby. Upon further inspection, we have found it to be a 300 hoffman. Does anyone have any experience with the cartridge?

We took a chamber cast and it appears very similar to the weatherby. Can you shoot weatherby ammo in it?

If not, we will probably rechamber it to 30-378, as it is the only larger case in .30 caliber.

Thanks.

The December, 1990 edition (pg. 62) of the American Rifleman magazine had a write - up on the .300 Hoffman mag. Unfortunately, I have the Index, but not the magazine. Perhaps someone out there has an extensive collection of the American Rifleman, and would look this up for you.
