I have heard of an Italian company making decent doubles called SIACE but I cant find any info on them. Anyone know anything about them??

The ones I have seen are pretty nice. They have all been shotguns, not rifles.

Thad Scott has a dandy hammer 12 gauge on his website right here:

There are a lot of nice shotguns around for $6500.

Well, I wasn't suggesting he ought to buy it. I just wanted to point out where he could look at pictures of one. Since the post was under Double Rifles, I was also assuming he was interested in a DR, not a shotgun.

I don't know whether it is a good deal or a bad deal.

For more information I will also point out that Dewings Fly & Gun Shop handles that brand. They had a few on display at the Vintagers in New York in September. Their website is here.

Best regards,
Curl

Cabela's has at least 1 of them in 45-70. Here it is!

Well, it looks good. Pity about the caliber . . .

For the price, *especially for the price* that gun looks great.

In 45-70 it'd make a great gun for hunting in North America too.

SIACE of Gardone Valtrompia (Brescia/Italy) makes two sxs rifles, Alaska (boxlock) and Yukon (hammer). Price in Europe is about $3300, and available calibers include 9.3x74R. In my opinion they are very nice looking, and will surely check them in person at the IWA Arms Show in Nurnberg next march. Their email seems to be:

45 saves lives

I have one of the Siace 45-70 doubles that is like the one at Cabelas. The comb was too high and had to be cut down. Other than that its a GREAT gun. GREAT caliber too. My gun will shoot about 1.5 inch group at 50 yds with a 405 bullet at 1650 fps. It was regulated for 300 gr Federal ammo but doesn't shoot the 300 gr quite as good. Its a light gun but very tight and very well made. I don't understand why this gun isn't one of the most popular doubles made. If I wanted a double to shoot and have fun with this would be it. Siace makes it in several calibers but they are hard to find.

Sam
