Me, my double & some boars
      #41526 - 15/11/05 12:37 AM

I use to go to some driven hunts every weekend. It's usual to get some pigs, but this last two week was amazing for me. I was (am ) really lucky.

This one was one week ago. About 100 Kg. 103 CIC points.

Last pic was taken from a video: http://media.putfile.com/Ahi-va-el-guarro

Last Saturday boar. Taken in Cordoba (South Spain) in an open area. This one was about 130 Kg. and should be around 110 CIC points (still to take the task out).

This time there was no video, but this little pig was running as fast as the other

A big red also passed by...

This one is about 200 CIC points. Real big for a open area.

Thanks for posting the pictures. Looks like you had a great time, and I hope you'll tell us more about the hunt.

How many hunters were there, and how many pigs and deer were shot?

Are the red deer driven as well or do you call them in? Very nice trophies.

I like the scenes of carnage behind. I like the traditional of positioning all the game at the end of the hunt.

Fantastic stag too.

I am guessing these were all taken with your double in .470? Or another calibre?

I'd love to. One day I will definitely call on you.

I want to drink some more Cava and Rioja and gaze upon the lovely Spanish ladies of Madrid again.

Hello to all. I've had and I follow to have some really good time reading the forum. I think I was too in the driven hunt to 470Nitro's first post refers to (El Puerto). He got a fantastic wild boar there.

I got a couple of red deer and a wild boar as well, but not of quality as trophies. However, one of the deer was shot on the neck, just the part of his body I could see, while he stood behind a big rock at 115 meters (range finder). Second shot from my Krieghoff double with open sights. Sure a very lucky shot considering my shooting skills but sure I enjoyed it very much as the deer dropped on his tracks.

Calibre was 8x75RS (.323"), moving a french designed bullet (GPA, made of copper, similar to the Barnes X) of 196 grains at 2,750 f/s. A very good medium bore of german origin, born well before WWII, and it is said that slightly more powerful than the 300 H&H magnum.

Anyway, congratulations for 470Nitro and best regards for all. Nice to meet you.

Jesús,

8x75RS (Jesus),

Welcome to the NitroExpress.com forums. Happy to have you here.

The 8x75RS sounds like quite a hot cartridge to have in a double rifle. Sounds cool too. Is it a standard offering for Krieghoffs? I will have to check.

Congratulations on your stags and boars too. Any photos to share?

Thanks to all for the kind welcome.

The 8x75RS is standard offering for Krieghoffs doubles, single shots and drillings, as well as for Blasers (S2, K95, BBF) and Heyms (80, 88, etc.) I am a fan of the 8 mm (.323) family of cartridges (8x57 JS [mauser], 8x68S, ...) and the 8x75RS seems to me the better balanced, apart from the definitive fact that it is rimmed and intended to be used on double rifles.

Here you have a view of part of the "Junta de carnes" (meat meeting) at the end of the driven hunt at El Puerto. The boar on the top of the left column is the one got by 470 Nitro. The stag shot by me on the neck is fourth from bottom to top of the right column. If you want to see his face, look at the pics within the first post of 470 Nitro. He is the deer with a yellow label on his left horn.

Regards,

The 8x75RS in not as hot as the name makes you believe!

It is just about like a rimmed version of the 8x64S Brenneke but Brenneke did not design this cartridge because he designed the 8x65R Brenneke instead of that.

The hotest european 8mm is still the 8x68S by far.
