If you are in a dry climate, the wood goes brittle. Metal work is OK.

303

You get what you pay for with these but they are fine
for what you want. Especially if likely to get scratched
etc.

The Short barrels are good.

Other to consider are Baikal.

Boito is real crap. That Russian gun is a much better deal. I think it starts with B, too. It isn't the best handling, but is built like a brick out house.

How inexpensive of a double barrel gun are you considering? Will you be shooting slugs? Buckshot? Pellets? What type of hunting?

I know those Baikals are a good inexpensive gun for pellet shooting, but not sure about slugs.

continued from above---

I assumed you wanted to shoot SLUGS when you mentioned pigs. I was just wondering if that was the ONLY use.

Much better off with a Baikal.

In reply to:

Well, maybe Boito is not the best grade shotgun ever made, but they are serviceable. I know a lot of shooters who use Boitos for trap and skeet, hunt with them, shoot slugs out of them, and they do not have anything to complain about.

I have two Boitos, a SxS and an O/U. The SxS has been modified with the addition of rifle sights and the barrels reduced to 24" for slugs. The O/U came in a two barrel set, one 30" and the other 26", both with interchangeable choke tubes.

Boitos break as many clay birds on the range as any other shotgun on the market.
