Good way to catch a Cray, no diving.

I've never thought crayfish live in a hole like that. But of course, their shape says so.

I had a lovely entree during my meal at d'Arenberg Winery, for my wife's birthday. A crawfish slice, prawn ravioli, bisque soup. It was recommended by the waitress, and it was fantastic. The bisque soup was so delicious.

d'Arenberg Winery features the "Cube", a stack of a series of Cubes. An artwork building inspired by an imitator of Salvador Dali. I'll remember his name later. Billich?

There is also an exhibition of this artist and Dali at the Cube. Three original giant statues by Dali in front. Worth multi millions. For sale as well . A floor of the cube has the exhibition, some originals, lots of limited edition prints, one limited edition smaller bronzes of the statues Dali commissioned from his artwork paintings images.

I'll have to do a Lancaster and post up a thread.

For those that don't know or remember, Strick is Marrakai's nephew (?)

And Fran is such a honey.

Yes, she is. So full of life.
That critter in the sand is not a crawfish, it is called a Mantis shrimp.

Mantis Shrimp: While not a true shrimp, several species inhabit Australian coastal waters and are known for their powerful "punches" or "spears".

Strick and Fran are
a popular YouTube duo known as B2B Castaways, a marine biologist and an engineer who document their adventures living off the land and sea while exploring remote tropical islands, focusing on nature, survival, and conservation. They gained fame through their channel, showcasing survival skills, cooking amazing meals from their catches, diving, and renovating a sailboat, sharing their "castaway" lifestyle with a large following.

We, my wife Tracy and I got Baerskin Hoodies for Christmas, just in case you watch the video and see the commercial.
They are VERY nice.
Also picked up Matsato knifes for me and my brother. Pretty cool. Might be a great skinning tool, for elk or moose (that I don't hunt any more).

I was able to catch up with Jack (Strick) a month or so back when BCF opened their new superstore at Gateway in Palmerston (my home town). The company had flown him in from Queensland for the opening, and his "job" for the day was to wander around in the store amongst the crowd doing a meet and greet.
He was kept pretty busy autographing shirts and hats, mostly for starry-eyed teenage girls () and I hardly got a word in edgeways!
Bought a few fishing lures and managed to win a $100 voucher for my trouble.
Was it rigged??

I'll leave it up to Daryl to explain the crawfish/crayfish thing, but Fran's catch in the video is indeed a mantis shrimp as stated above. They are nice eating!
I had a technique for getting them when I lived in North Queensland a lifetime ago, shown to me by an ol'timer when I was in my teens. Another time perhaps...

Crawfish, crayfish, crawdads, same deal as far as I know. (AFAIK)
Here & in Ontario where I used them for bass bait, crayfish or crawfish are miniature lobsters and live in fresh water. They can pinch pretty hard, but not "take" off a digit.(not to be confused with a diggerydoo)

What I have trouble with, is telling the difference between the crayfish/crawfish and the lobsters in AUSTRALIA. The "ones" "over there in down under" look the same to me.

Fran is starting to call him Jack, I noticed.

Last May/June, I ate quite a few NORMAL lobsters in Newfoundland. The 1 pounders are best, sweetest in flavour. Boiled, cracked and delivered to our cottage, $7.00 each. May/June, is lobster season on our East coast.

OK I'll fly in Fran one-day for a wine opening.

Thanks for the shrimp confirmation.

Didn't know we have any "shrimp" in Australia.

Here I reckon it would be $7 per 100 gms. We suckers send most of ours to China.

Yabbies are a freshwater crustacean and outside of Australia are called freshwater crayfish. We have freshwater crayfish that are somewhat bigger than yabbies. Yabbies grow from 3" to 12" and have claws than can do some damage, especially those 6" and over. Bloody good eating.

I think what we call Crayfish and Lobster are the same thing and our Lobsters claws are not as large as American Lobsters, going by pics I have seen. Anybody know for sure.

May have to google this if nobody knows for sure.

The river or creek on my farm used to have hundreds of yabbies. As it's now dry, none of course now. But they disappeared before it went dry.

My bush block had a running stream, but poachers killed off all the yabbies. Now that creek is dry as well.

Some dams have yabbies but again over catching is a threat.

I never liked the muddy flavour of yabbies.

But I believe putting live ones in clean fresh water removes the muddiness.

Our yabbies were maybe four or five inches long at most.
