Sold by Weber & Tschundi SA. I did a chamber cast since there are at least two different 450-400s. .450/400 2 3/8" caliber, 28" barrel, S/N 4659, Two leaf rear barrel sight front blade on a ramp. Blue barrel, blue Martini frame, double set triggers. Overall this is an excellent rifle retaining a lot of the original blue finish. The bore is bright and shiny. The stock and forearm shows some nicks and dings.

you know this is the 10,3x60R the so called "Bündner Patrone". RWS brass is still available here 2,40 euro each https://www.wiederladen-alzey.de/de/10-3-x-60-r-rws-huelsen-neutrale-verpackung

this is since over 100 years the standard hunting cartridge in single shot rifles only in the swiss kanton Graubünden. this was and is a large rural area in switzerland and the idea behind this was to prevent well to do hunter outperform the local farmer hunter with new and expensive small bore caliber. so everyone hunting up to this day with a big bore and the old british 450-400 became a standard hunting rifle rifle caliber as the graubündner cartridge

Lancaster my first double rifle, a Alex Henry was in the same caliber. At that time the only brass I could find was the 10.3x60. They worked well.

Nice rifle Casper!
Shame it looks like the butt's been used as a paddle - lots of scuffs etc yet the hand guard looks almost perfect!
If only they could talk!

I think that I'll try and help the wood a bit. Try and raise dents and stuff.

Very interesting rifle! It looks odd to me with no checkering on either end as I might have guessed. Does this indicate anything with regard to the 'grade' or use?

Nice different buy.

I've always found it unusual how that Swiss province requires such a large bore calibre with a rainbow trajectory. For hunting in a mountainous terrain.
