member ranking?
      #39491 - 22/10/05 10:25 AM

I am new to this forum and was wondering what the deal is with the member rankings(I think thats what they are). I see .224 member under my name when I post. Other members have .375 or .400 etc. What determines this number and how does it change?

It is based upon number of posts.

"It is based upon number of posts."

BS !

450 No 2, (whose posts I value) has 395 posts and a five Star rating.
Marrakai and I have approx 599 and 630+ posts and a 3 star rating

If you want a higher rating (or worry about that type of thing),
just get people to vote on it and butter up the Moderator !!!

Personally, a 5 star rating backed up by no or little hunting experience
and little knowledge of guns in general (and double rifles in particular
since that is where I post mostly) is like a soldier with a chest full of
medals but no chest and no experience.

Just judge the posters by what they say - generally those with experience
tend to agree along the same lines of thought and back it up with personal
experience.

The "member ranking" or "member title" is merely set by the number of posts a member has made.

See the section in the FAQ section:

Member "titles"

The "star ranking" is embarrassing and I wish it was easy to remove. It is voted on my any member, from one to five stars. I BELIEVE it also reduces over time according to the number of posts members make or is maintained if some level of number of posts is maintained. I really have no idea. Some members have had five stars but dropped for no apparent reason over time. So I believe now the software itself may reduce them over time.

Myself I sometimes votes members "stars" but only ever do 5 stars (after a great post or whatever). It is petty IMO to do anything else.

As I said I find them embarrassing and would like them done away with in total.

The moderators do not have any more "votes" than anything else and can't change the 'star' ratings at all. You should know that.

Hey. It's worth a try John. Bribes might work too.

There.

Now Bulldog has five stars.
It will -no doubt- assist him in his choice of calibers around the purchace of his new double rifle.
