Hollands new takedown rifle

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJrCkvfuQOU saw this last night. Holland and Holland launches their takedown rifle. The prices are up there as you would expect.

A re-launch I guess you could call it.
I didn’t know that H&H ever used a slant magazine for their belted 375.

I've never had a problem with feeding in a straight ended magazine with belted rounds, however I do see the point of the angled magazine perhaps, may be slightly smoother? yeah - a question!

According to the guy talking they introduced it a few years ago. Bloody nice rifles though.

A very nice rifle, but Holland's have been making take-down bolters like that for a very long time. Hardly a new design.

Typical ffffing pommie media, even gun media, "for the super rich safari market".

Yes a new Holland & Holland bolt action is very expensive. I can't afford one. But typical of pommie media which always mentions t costs of safaris often inflated. Typical class hatred, "them" vs the "rich". Inba country where parasites have lived their wholes Ives, multi generations on welfare,or heavily part welfare highlighting some dude sent GBP40,000 on an African safari creates hatred by the envious. But in these times where working class hloow large amounts of money on "sport" i.r. gambling booze smokes, drugs, fast food instead of home cooked, sone of these could afford the same if they saved instead of spending every penny every week. Taddies in particular often make good incomes.

Often it's a matter of personal decisions and choice.

Ridiculous for gunmedia to be echoeugbsuch ANTI sentiments.

Must watch the rest of the video.

Best grade GBP 68,000
Delux grade GBP80,000
Exhibition +
plus VAT

Not cheap.

HH can make 12 plus per year, but anticipating 6 to 10 per year.

Very nice.

How difficult would it be to modify an existing M98 to a H&H style barrelled action reliable "takedown""return to zero" ability?

What is done for the rear screw, at the rear of the action/trigger guard? The rear of the HH takedown some
how levers in and is held tight.

We've got members who have older vintage HH takedowns. It would be great to have some photos and descriptions.

I think takedown long arms are excellent for the travelling hunter. Breakdown shotguns, double rifle, combination firearms are easily broken down. To barrel length.

Some bolt actions, like the old take down method, barrels unscrewed at the action. Many modern actions, starting with the Blazer, and since then other modern makers. The shorter two lengths, usually the forend and barrel is the longest. A issue on the old method is allegedly wear on the threads. And the scope is on the action. Any difference in attaching the barrel can result in point of impact changes. The longest section is the barrel and friend.

My Mauser M03s separate the barrels from the action and stock . The longest section is the full-length of the stock.

The H&H system has a ful length stock, and a full barrelled action. So not short. But shorter than a full length rifle.

A shorter rifle length gun case works. About two-thirds full-length. Might fit in some longer suit cases, certainly diagonally. I did that on my 1993 Zimbabwe Safari. My M98 taken out of the stock, stock and barrelled action diagonally just fit in the hard suitcase. Some danger if the suitcase is out under handling pressure. A custom two-thirds fitted rifle case, easier to carry, strap it into the top of a duffle bag.

The HH system and similar others has an advantage of the scope being permanently n the action and barrel if desired

The systeunthereticaly prefer is a much modified Mauser action. Where the threaded collar is on the barrel, but fits into the action. The forend is still attached to the barrel. Barrels both takedown and switchable.

I like the rifle and it's take down method. Would like to be in a position where I could afford one and a safari to go with it.

Totally agree Greg.
I applaud the Brit makers for continuing the British gun-making tradition through these modern creations, and along with Rigby, Westley Richards, etc I wish them all every success.

And in a hundred years' time, enthusiasts just like me today will be buying them as affordable second, third or fourth-hand vintage guns,
and loving it!
