Exactly. Adds up fast!
Have to set limits and stick with them.

I still have my old Field patent 500No.2 (577-500no.2)
They are incredibly simple and functional actions often overlooked by collectors.

Ben, you did the right (or smart) thing.

It is too easy in viewing auctions to overlook all of the add on charges which can amount to 1/3 of the bid price, particularly when the price looks like it is just slightly higher than your last bid.

I would like to see some pictures of your Field 500 #2.

Here it is.
Quite a used rifle - some conservation here and there - repair a wrist and a couple little filler pieces but she’s held together so far!

In spite of the outward appearance, it has a virtually pristine bore of that wonderful 28” ovate barrel!

To the OP, Kirton talks about Rigby adding the word “Breech” to the side of the actions they used so all of the Rigbys read “Field’s Patent Breech” denoting that they used only the action in some effort to differentiate the Field patent actioned rifles from their own Rigby Banks patent rifles.

Thanks for posting. It looks like a nice rifle that has seen some good field usage. Does that have a Metford or Henry rifled barrel?

I was unable to find a diagram of Metford Rifling.
