Shotguns at auction
      #393348 - 10/09/25 01:55 AM

I thought that someone would be interested in this 8ga (4" chamber) DB shotgun, if only to read the description and see the on-line pictures. While illegal to hunt waterfowl with in US, one could get 10 ga inserts and hunt with this gun as a 10 ga, saving the 8 ga for sporting clays.

Whilst I would sell my Mum for a Dickson shotgun it probably would not be that one. At 11lbs a bit heavy for my needs. Beautiful gun though and will be snapped up by a Dickson collector. Love Scottish guns.

For waterfowl, we are restricted to 10ga or smaller and non-lead shot. It is a very old law designed to restrict the markethunters, some who used punt guns which are really small, light weight, long barreled cannons.

It would be interesting to hunt geese with this gun

8 bore isn't legal for waterfowl in Canada -tox shot suitable for that game, is tungsten shot.

Would be nice to have. 12 bore is the largest for waterfowl in SAust.

What would it have originally be used for? British waterfowl in the marshes?
