Chris Coade Photos from the CLA Gamefair
      #392642 - 27/07/25 09:02 AM

Chris is attending the great Country Landowners Association Game Fair at Ragley Hall, wrapping up today. He asked me to post these three photos for him-

Chris in the H&H stand with a Royal 500NE in hand. Sales Manager Luke Davidson took the photo and minding his hardware- UKP 185!! Pith helmet is Chris's dress at the show!!

SPECTACULAR Westley Richards 600NE

Chris is doing an in depth study and cataloging of Jeffery double rifles, focus on Leonard built rifles. If you own a Jeffery double and haven't been in touch, you should contact him by email- ccoade@hotmail.co.uk. Chris has extensive knowledge of the old Jeffery rifles. He will catalog yours and share his research with you. My 450-400 3" is included!!

Ken

Probably facebooked at the time, but there is a neat photo of six of us holding our .400 Jeffery doubles,
taken at the International Dangerous Game Shoot in Darwin last year.
Pretty rare to get that many vintage doubles all by the same maker, in the same place at the same time!

I'll see if I can find it and post here.

...unless m239 beats me to it!

Meanwhile, details of the Jeffery double in my custody these past decades is discussed in this thread: click here.
Completed by Charles Leonard in February 1939.
Assume Chris Coade has been made aware of that 6-page thread?

Something to add: additional cost of 4 quid marked in the ledger against my rifle was likely for the oak & leather case with accessories.
Have since learned that engraving of this type (not special order) was usually inclusive in the gun build.

At the Annual Gamekeepers Dinner at the Adelaide Club of the Adelaide Club and my club, the Naval Military and Airforce Club, we were talking about the UK Game Fair at Ragley Hall last night. A plan was this year to attend and also shoot at the King's Sandringham Estate similar to a year or two ago. But postponed to next year. I doubt I'd be going. I'd rather going during pheasant and grouse seasons.

Attending the Game Fair would be nice however.

Here's that pic - and IIRC Marrakai mentioned there was another that was not present on the day.

What makes the picture even more special is all these grand rifles (and their owners) are still hunting.

Marrakai
Yes, I have seen the previous 6 page thread - some very good info on that thread including your Jeffery N.E Double Rifle - made by the Grandson Charles Leonard in 1939.
Great that these older N.E Double Rifles are still being used for their intended purpose, as well as the modern-built Double Rifles of Holland & Holland and Westley Richards and other Gunmakers.
