Reilly 450 x 3 1/4" DR
      #392602 - 24/07/25 12:42 AM

Hi Guys
This refurbished rifle tempted me recently

450 x 3 1/4" by Reilly

overall

I was tempted by the case hardening and clean chequering

Multiple sights - for the South African market?

Top view

Non rebounding locks - early?

Nice belly

E. M. Reilly New Oxford Street London

Rifling is good

Could do with a scrub!

28" barrels 8lb 7 oz

I have always liked the 450 3 1/4" as almost the earliest .450 despite the bottlenecked cases being more efficient

I have a Lancaster oval bore and an Alexander Henry single shot in the calibre so plenty of cases

Comments welcome

TH

Looks pretty good.
Curly's .450 3 1/4 shoots very well with a 300gr. bullet copper washed bullet. I suspect a powder coated or grooved lubricated one should do a well.
That left tube might come around with a good scrub with maroon scotch brite and WD40.

No wonder you were tempted TH44!
That is one very nice piece of kit indeed!
Beautifully restored.
Might try that scotch brite trick on my Martini - only have green ones here in Oz

Nice rifle Tony. I hope it's a good shooter. (I have a Reilly in 450 3.25" and it shoots quite well.)

The case hardening would have got me too. And the nicely shaped hammers.

Welding supply shops would have some. We used them for polishing stainless.

That sympathetic restoration is very nice.

Henry rifling too, so it should shoot best with fairly hard bullets.
...or paper patched if you have the patience!

Well done on succumbing to temptation!
