Maaate!
That's pretty damn good for straight off the bat!
Especially with the option to reduce the charge slightly to uncross.
Sure beats being close to maximum (charge, or recoil tolerance!) and still being apart.

Good catch on the "tipping" buckstix.
With my .58 SXS, I needed dd more powder to eliminate the crossing.

Good work Buckstix. Thanks for posting. Interesting.

And whenever I see your crimping tools it reminds me, I need a set in 10-bore and at least one set for 12-bore.

Last week I sent a 12 & 10 bore tool (#76 & #77) to Australia - been in customs for a week.

THanks for sharing Buck. I looked at that rifle many times on GI. I read about this very doublerifle when it featured in GD. I was back then puzzled a riflecartridge could be so big. (it didn`t make sense to me back then) I enjoyed JL articals. They were the best. Later on I did realized the british used these huge borerifles from other articals.

BTW. I use 62grain BD to a 1000grain leadbullet in my 10bore. It will pop alright.

I grew up reading all of Lott's publications, and starting looking for his rifles. I was fortunate to add this 3rd rifle of his to my collection. I am still working up loads and will publish data when complete. Testing today with an original 1475g HP bullet cast from an original mold. I hope to survive.

Here is the latest update. I tried a lighter load with 55g Blue Dot, but saw no difference from previous. I went back to 60g Blue Dot and cast a heavier pure lead bullet. I also adjusted the wad column. I also changed from lathe turned brass to Parker brass. The lathe turned brass had a thick lower wall with a reduced powder chamber. This produced higher pressure and required severe resizing after the first loading. The thin wall Parker brass seems much stronger and required no resizing even after 3 loading. I am very happy with these results and will move out to 50 yards at the next outing. I also received my Tanner .875 dia round ball mold and will be testing it also.

That must have been awfully thick brass in the turned brass cases, adding an extra wad, gong to pure lead & a drop in velocity whilst all still fitting in the same OAL!
Mind you, now spot on with the sights & what a group - WOW

Well done Buck…..

I tried the "Parker" brass (from Track of the Wolf) in my G.E. Lewis 8 bore however the chambers are a bit "generous" towards the base and I got excessive expansion and cracks at the 90º stress point between the case wall and the base. 10 Dram Black Powder load.
With Black Powder I go with turned brass made to the chamber by Rocky Mountain Cartridge and have no issues.
Tanner mould round ball for me.

I will have to try the Blue Dot route which likely has lower pressure and maybe would be easier on the Parker brass?

Gotta love the 8 Bore for style points!
