Africa's Green Colonialism
      #392227 - 29/06/25 03:17 PM

"With the aim of protecting Africa’s endangered animals, large areas of Kenya, Rwanda, and other countries are given over to NGOs to manage. This leads to local people losing access to land whilst wealthy foreign tourists enjoy safaris in what is criticised as green colonialism."!

Lancaster,

Thanks for posting. I guess my comments well be "preachiung to the choir" but I believe the NGO seems to be doing a great job and the socialist video producers don't recognize that without enforced laws, much of Africa's wildlife would disappear in short order.

The NGO is doing a great job.

"Green colonialism" is "black wildlife rape and genocide".

I see the film maker says the usual anti sporting hunting lies.

Just because squatters farm and piaxh an area, doesn't mean they have any rights to the area.

As for colonialism looks like a lot of black Africans employed running it. Lots of Rwandans employed in the park. Local communities getting a lot of benefits including electricity.

Lancaster, thanks for posting.

Have not had a chance to watch it yet. However, some NGOs get things so wrong it is not funny other times it is. In Namibia an NGO decided to plant Australian Blue Gums as the timber is hard, dense and good for building. Trouble is they take at least 60 years to be big enough unless used as poles. Plus they have them planted about 2 foot not 3 to 4 meters apart.

Also they built communal toilets in villages. Trouble is, as explained to me, an African wont put their arse where somebody else has. So some one use it, then next craps to one side and them the other, after that they go back to their old ways and the toilet bloke is used as a dump until it is full, then back to the old ways.

Rule303, this is a good video, well worth watching,

NGOs, as well as other companies, can get some things wrong but, in this instance, the NGO appears to be doing the right thing.

What the producer ignores is that the NGO is perserving the wild like in a largfe area so it can be enjoyed now and well into the future.

Yes, the tourist are not paying the natives for their pictures and are paying a small price to enter the park. And yes, poachers have their snares, spears, guns, & bikes confiscated and nay soend time in jail where they can learn to be better thugs at the government's expense.
