A Belgian 8 shot revolving rifle in 9.3 x 48mm.
      #391995 - 13/06/25 02:36 PM

A few months ago a friend asked me to find him a Tranter revolving rifle. I found one but it went for way out of his price range. A few weeks ago I found a Belgian 8 shot centerfire revolving rifle. A very strange thing. A 9.3 x 48mm rare Belgian revolving rifle. The auction house knew nothing about it as far as maker or history. They'd never seen one like it before and could not find anything more on the internet. I showed it to my friend and he really liked it. Gave me an amount to bid on it to include buyer's fee, shipping and pick up fees. Well, he won it this morning. Some photos for eye candy and if anyone knows anything about it, please share your knowledge. Thanks.

It's in my Handloader's Manual of Cartridge Conversions. Can be made from a .303.

THAT'S even better. I'm st the lake for a couple days. I'll try to remember to look it up when I get home. .303 brass would be a lot easier and cheaper than .30/40 Krag brass.

The friend who I bought it for says that 9.3 x 72R brass can be cut down. I don't know, but we'll see in a couple of months.

The book says that it has to be taper expanded to a straight case.

That is not really a problem if one has access to a lathe to make expander buttons to enlarge the 1.8" case.

Wow! I never saw the like!

I'm quite confident fire forming would eliminate any taper.

On a nicely annealed case, yes, fire forming will work well, especially with black powder. There will not be much for it to do on the 1.8" portion. Simply necked up to hold the BP lubed projectile, case of black powder and fireform.
I found 60% beeswax/40% Vaseline (60:40) to be an excellent lube for BP bullets.

Interesting piece Casper, didn't Colt have something similar as in a revolving rifle?

They did. Revolving shotguns as well. Just google Colt Revolving rifles. The 1853 will likely come up, however these are not ctg. guns.
I can find nothing later than the 1855 Colt Root revolving rifle and it is a caplock.
