I always wanted to make a Tom Brown Tracker style, but I never liked the sawtooth back on them...so here's my first attempt at knife making....

...I'm not a knife maker, this was purely for myself, after working out the shape, I laser cut the blank from an old crosscut saw blade, a mate ( who is a knifemaker ) ground and heat treated it and I finished it off and made the sheath.
The handle is Ironbark and the sheath is a small of the back type with a pocket for a ferro rod and diamond sharpener, etc.

Pretty neat sheath-system. Note of caution always watch carefully when drawing and reinserting that blade. LOL
Cool design, Roger. Wouldn't work on a moose very well, the step would be getting caught. Yes I know, not many moose on or in Tasmania.

Yes Daryl, not really a a skinning type of knife....I made it on a whim really, always wanted to make one of these....its more for chopping with the rear section of blade for batonning kindling and that sort of thing. As much as I hate the term, its what would be classified as a " survival " knife. I'm more interested in making the other blank that I cut...a Nessmuk style skinner I'll fit up with walnut handles to match a stock I'm making...

Now it makes sense, more of a utility knife. I didn't realize the actual size.
It's a big-un.

Nice work. I like the use of ironbark for the handle.
