Army & Navy CSL 10 bore double rifle
      #391801 - 30/05/25 09:33 PM

I acquired this piece recently - Junior Army & Navy 10 bore double rifle. The rifle is in nice condition, with clean bores and strong rifling. It came with a whole pile of reloading components, as well as loaded rounds. This particular rifle has some nice history here in Australia, and I am happy to be its current custodian.

this looks most promising but you have maybe a problem to acquire 10 ga brass? its a very nice double rifle needs to go to water buffalo hunt.

I was also lucky in that the rifle came with a good supply of Eley brass cases. I'm hoping to get the big old rifle out for a shot this coming Christmas.

the you think loading smokeless is a good idea for this old beast? its a blackpowder rifle for sure.

Wow you have been lucky mate - beautiful piece of kit there, awesome pick up!
Great to have those brass cases, not sure but Bruce Bertram should make those as well, I wish I could find a list of stuff he actually makes!
I'd follow Graeme's BP loading data, the 4th book really goes into Paradox & bore rifles - very interesting read!

Very nice. Congratulations on its acquisition.

You and others inspire me to get mine finally shooting.

The cartridges are loaded with BP and not smokeless. The rifle was supplied with a good amount of Goex blackpowder, so I will be right for a good while.

Beyond a nice acquisition, it's lovely.

One day we should have a group bore rifle buffalo hunting.

I would enjoy that. I am planning on getting some decent practice in with the old rifle this Christmas to see how I go with it. I know the rifle performs well, given its history in the field and in BGRC competition.
I would love nothing better than to take a buffalo with an underlever hammer double rifle

Chris
