Made some 9mm pinfire ammo yesterday. I need to make the pins just a hair shorter. They are hitting the frame when the cylinder revolves. https://youtu.be/6Dk5SHTWdEc

Shame the pins were a bit long, some fed very smoothly when loading!
Not sure what happened to your sound at the end it really lagged?

lancaster using a 9mm Luger.

93 my phone got an update and my videos wouldn't work on Movie Maker. I had to download a codec. They aren't 100% right quite yet.

you cut of the base of the brass and fill the primer hole with soft solder? when making 12 mm pinfire cases I was using 6,8/11 rimfire tool blanks in cut down 308 win brass. the fired 6,8 mm case as a sleve was inserted into a hole in the 308 win making the inner space for the cap. it reduced powder capacity but I could load the cartridge on the rock chucker like any other ammo.

If you could show us mate that will be great!
Not hard to confuse me, your explanation went right over my head

so, this problem starts for me in 1995 when I bought a 16 ga husqvarna pinfire double. the gun was sold years ago but my memorys are fresh like it was one week ago.I have today only the 4 ga pinfire gun and the case for this is special. http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=327948&an=0&page=2#Post327948

the pinfire case made from copper sheet was the first succesful metallic cartridge. it needs a space inside close to the bottom for the muzzle loader primer. its not possible to use modern centerfire brass for this job without some significant changes.

I was working then with 16 ga paper shells with a sized down rim. to get a space inside for the primer I was using fired 9 mm Flobert rimfire cases in place of the original primer.

I used this method also for other brass cases, 12 ga on Magtech brass with a turned down rim and 12 mm revolver pinfire from 8x57 IS brass. for the 12 mm cartridge the 9 mm Flobert case was of course to big so I used the 6.8 mm tool cartridge case.
today I searched for a while for a 9 mm Parabellum case in the basement and I found one !
was not so easy.

ok, basics. what can you use, rimfire cases in 4 sizes: 9 mm Flobert, 6.8 mm tool cartridge, 6.3 mm tool cartridge and 22 lr. I think you americans have them as .27 and .25 rimfire.

it won't work without a small lathe! on mine I can simply cut these cases to 6.2 mm length without any problems.

as you can see, the small RWS muzzleloader primer fits well in the 9mm Flobert, the 6.8 and the 6.3mm case

the 22 lr case is a little bit too small, maybe with force!

for the 9mm Parabellum case I use the 6.8 mm case, maybe the 6.3 mm case would be the better option. by the way, the 6.8 and 6.3 mm cases are made of copper-plated or brass-plated steel.

you drill through the case with a 7.0 mm drill and then make the rim cut-out with an 8.5 mm drill.

you insert the rimfire case

and then rivet it from the front with a hammer and a suitable centre punch.

the resulting pinfire case can now be drilled for the pin. the case works in the loading press, you can fl resize it and seat the bullet with a 9 mm para die set.

I cut the case to 16 mm lenght here, it holds 9,5 grains FFFG.

imho, this case is close to everlasting. btw, when priming the case I was allways giving some glue ( the common stuff, not epoxy) on the primer and on the pin. it holds the primer in place until the case is loaded and the powder is around and it safes the pin. when fired the hammer cracks the glue and move the pin.
