Unmatched pair Holloway and Co 12 Bore Hammer Guns
      #391113 - 11/04/25 08:04 AM

Couple of pictures of my new to me Holloway 12 bore hammer guns. Damascus barrels, nitro proved, 2 3/4 chambers. Just a touch of the original case hardening left on each of them. One is a bit loose but a pretty easy fix. They are not a pair but are very similar guns . About as close as I will get to a pair. Both nice to shoot.

Both very nice indeed Claydog!
Do you intend to refurbish or just leave as is?
What do you do to tighten up the action, change the hinge pin?

I heard a pretty knowledgeable fellow say they are only in original condition once, so just a clean up and a couple of firing pin springs. I put a shim around the hinge pin on the loose one and it tightened up pretty well. Will probably add some metal onto the hook and refit it. Not sure if it worth re joining. They shoot like a dream. Fit me perfectly.

I do like them. I likevthesdhold hammer shotguns. Being a 2 3/4" is a plus.

The stock colour is the most obvious immediate difference. The engraving and metal markings is different slightly.

How are they choked?

What's your plan with them? Goose, ducks, quail?

Clays, what type of competitions? One rarely sees a hammer shotgun at clay targets shoots. Hardly any side by sides.

My plan is to return to a side by side for most of all my shooting.

John they are choked full and full by the measurements. I will use it on anything I can. We don't have official clays down here, just some informal shoots at a mates place. Always wanted a hammer gun and having shot these two have to say I love them. They just feel right. Best thing is they are unpopular and priced reasonably. I have out layed a massive $450 for these two. Bought one and a mate said he had one similar and gave it to me. Be fun on the geese and ducks.
