this is just a first impression and we don't have enough data till now. I think for a small firm like Schüler this are a lot of guns, maybe 585 a year are to much. in the 1920s in special all had very bad times. I don't know what Schüler did 1914 -18.
other firms in this size like Collath make things like signal flare pistols and it seems they stampp it with the own SN so the post war sporting guns have a very high number without connection to the pre war years .
Schüler make the Reform pistol and the unique "Scheintod" pistol

and its possible that this little pistols are part of the serial numbers.

think about this its more realistic for a firm the size of Schüler/Suhl to look now only on the rifles SN 26190 made in june 1934 to 28236 made in december 1943.
Schüler was not a big gun factory so a little bit over 2000 guns in 9 years would be right in my opinion.
this makes 220 guns a year and this is a lot. you find different schüler guns on the market but its not they are behind every corner. in the 220 guns a year there may have been other things in this numbers like the Scheintodpistole.
I search about Dreyse and this was a real factory and around 1880 they make 1000 guns a year. The Peterlongo rifle with the 11xxx SN have a Ferlach proof. it could be that this a Peterlongo SN maybe because Pertlongo only get the parts from Suhl and screw it together for whatever import regulations and to save some customs payment.
well, I have no doubt that this rifle was made in Suhl, everything speaks for this. but I think if it was build together in Suhl finally it have to get a proof there.

Maybe some day we'll have more examples.

Hello All,

I finally had some nice weather to test some loads. I tested some light loads with 300g bullets, and some full loads with 400g bullets. All were shot with the peep site's small aperture. The light loads that came with the rifle shot higher and had velocity spread "all over the place" - ranging from a low of 1404 fps to a high of 1631 fps. Since I didn't load these, I suspect this was due to poor loading technique and not just poor performance of the lighter bullet. I also loaded the same full house loads from when I tested the IMMAN 11.2x72 Schuler a while back.

I noticed a "significant" difference in felt recoil with this lighter Mannlicher. It weighed 8.5 pounds and had 68 ft/lbs recoil, whereas the Imman weighed 11 pounds and only had 53 ft/lbs recoil. That 15 ft/lbs difference in recoil energy was noticeable, and much less pleasant to shoot.

It is important to note that the load with the 400g bullet (bullets deep seated to an overall loaded length of 3.300") easily achieved 2,350 fps and would make an excellent load for Africa, having the same performance as the 404 Jeffery but with a greater sectional density. It is also more potent than a 375 H&H. Energy at 100 yards for the 11.2x72 Schuler is 4,170 ft/lbs, compared to only 3,125 ft/lbs for the 375 H&H.

as always comments are most welcome

I got the bullets with one of my 11.2x72 Schuler rifles that I purchased. They were not in an original box and they were labelled 400g RWS. Not sure if they were actually RWS.

I like your 400gn loads - corkers!
The U inside a shield I think is RWS, I've seen it somewhere before - just can't remember where now!

U inside a shield is RWS, like these 347gr 10.75 calibre bullets. Your 400gr solids should be similar to my 400gr 10.75 bullets shown in the second image, good reinforced nose but relatively thin side walls. I only recovered one of these solids when using my 404 on buffalo and it had fishtailed a bit when caught in the rear hip ball joint of a big bull after penetrating from an slightly angled frontal shot.
The RWS solids don't have any identifying marks as the base is lead with fold over jacket. The 400gr bullets came in RWS round green plastic boxes of 20.

indeed RWS, the "U" stands for Heinrich Utendoerfer primer factory Nürnberg the forerunner of RWS and still used sometimes as a trademark

Wow! Set triggers on 11.2mm big game rifles! A tad unnecessary one would think!

For precision shooting of course - the BRNO 602s and CZ550 Magnums also had these features. I can go set trigger on my 458WM for accurate bullet placement on the charging buffalo.
