Prefer the laminate to the black plastic, but really don't like the action. I still prefer a 98.
Yes, some will most certainly like it. Old school fellows, likely not, but - hard to say.

Quite ugly, cheap and nasty in my opinion.

Oh I see it is a straight pull. Straight pull seems to be much demanded for driven game/boar hunts, t0The claim is turn bolt designs are to slow.

I wonder how well the bolt does lock up? Compared to an M98.

Only in .308 so far. Three shot magazine. Five shot available but no doubt stick out a long way.

I think the L&O Group doesn't know where the Mauser brand fits in.

I wonder what they'll do with the Mauser 1w and 18s? Cease making them? Cease any sort of after sales service? Just like every mother older short lived model they've done.

I hadn't seen this one - better, but still doesn't float my stick. It's a bit clubby and not sure I like the sleeve-over-the-barrel breach looking front of the action.

My friend has just tested this one. He is a kind of pro because he tests all availabele modern rifles to local hunters jounal. I phoned him yesterday and we discussed about this rifle. He said this is his favourite among all those straight pull rifles he had shot (Blaser, Mauser, Steel Action etc.). He described rifles function very solid and precise. Bolt slides very well back and forward. He likes rifles ergonomics too.
As a designer I do not like rifles design details so much but despite that it could be a good tool for hunters who like driven game.

One of the better looking straight pulls to me. I do not like single stack detachable magazines. FFS Mauser came up with the formular for solid reliable double stack magazines why stuff up what they are good at.

Looks like it has two locking lugs, unless I have missed something. Anyhow a straight pull requiring the lugs to rotate a full 90 degrees might be asking a bit of the mechanism???? They may well have over come any problems.

Think I will stick with my standard bolt actions for now. Wonder what usage and time will show.

Doe it turn? Or do the lugs expand outward?

Thanks for that.

I think it's a least a good solid rifle. In the proper rifle style. Not a plastic gimmick rifle like the Blaser. And many other modern designs.

If one wanted a modern straight pull bolt action for reloading speed, at least this seems a solid rifle. Subject to how good that locking lug mechanism is. Negatives are the three shot standard magazine. The stock design is pretty ordinary. And so far only .308. My guess is the choice of cartridge chamberings will be limited.

Straight pull rifles seem to be the rage in Europe.

I had a straight pull rifle (a 1910 Commercial Ross in 280 Ross) and, while a beautiful, well made rifle, didn't seem really much quicker than a bolt action rifle and not as quick as my Remington 760 pump rifle.

BTW, the stroke on a straight pull is somewhat longer than a bolt rifle because part of the stroke is required to turn the bolt.

Other than pump rifles and guns being an "American" firearm, I am not sure why the Europeans don't make a very nice looking pump action rifle for running boar. The Remington 760 series has a free floating barrel and are reliable, accurate rifles.

I agree that pump guns are fast, especially pump shotguns.
Slamming the forend back into battery, brings the barrel back down onto the target, automatically.
Used to do 6 sil's at 25 yards in 2 seconds with a M870 & buckshot.

There is some following here in Australia thanks to the restrictions on semi-autos. There are also a few offerings of auto-ejection with manual return to battery in rimfire, shotgun and centrefire cartridges. Some are modified versions of semi-autos with different trigger group mechanisms and additional bolt catch/hold-open devices and cannot be easily modified to semi-auto.

A company here in Australia, Eureka Guns, is currently producing a couple of "lever release" versions (223 and 9mm):

I've never shot a pump action rifle. But still have a pump action shotgun. I gave up on it for sporting shooting when I could see three or more wads flying in the air and the pigeon still flying away. Hit more with my s by s. The pump action could be shot very fast.

I feel the pumping action puts one off target a bit for a rifle. Having not used one? What do I know?

I shoot my BLR lever action in .308. At one shoot, someone asked, "who is using a semi auto?" Shooting off hand at a deer target at 220 metres. All in the chest.

I have a feeling unread last week, mthe bolt release shotguns, such as the V-C are banned for duck shooting here in SA. And I think the lever action shotguns. The gun control freaks never stop.

Some of the guys on the fox drives use the bolt release shotguns. I'm still using a side by side. Only a problem if two shots are not enough.

One of the Mauser 25s in .308 could be set up as a tactical
for us peasants not allowed semi autos. The thumbhole stock,
tactical scope, dot sight, bipod, sling, but needs 5x 20
round magazines. 3 and 5 round mags don't cut it.
