No problems Rolland, glad to help.

I bought a bag full of MS parts of a guy in England for stuff all money and among all the parts were that release lever for the pin and the take-down trigger guard. My 1903 is all complete so I didn't need them.
Interestingly there was also a cocking piece from a Model 1900 in the bag of goodies which would have to be rare as hell.

Does anyone have the insert for the trapdoor butt plate, it looks to be rubber or something simular. My rifle is missing that and I thought I might make one as from what I see on Ebay MS parts are rather expensive. I did make a set of cleaning rods according to Rothhammers post.,
I am also looking for a front sling swivel it is missing on this rifle.

The originals have a tendency to be shrunken a bit. When new one could easily fit rods in the top and a cartridge in each of the other two openings. 'New' was a century ago.

My 1922 proofed M1910 TD has the original insert which is distorted a bit at the top hole for the rods to tightly fit if put in just right, other two are too tight for 9.5X57 cartridges. I could bore them out a bit, but have kept her original.

For function, and as your MS will be a 'restored' example, I'd seek out a suitable material of original thickness, cut to shape and bore appropriate holes. May take a few runs at it, but if you succeed there's another valuable MS part you'd be able to reproduce for others.

I don't know what sort of what was used on the originals, just that it shrinks.

If it were me, I would probably fabricate a replacement out of some type of rubber material.

I ended up making an insert for the trapdoor butt plate. I used an old takeoff limbsaver pad. The only way to cut them up is to use some dry ice and freeze it in between cuttings and shaping. works out really good. just don't let it get warm or it gets sloppy.

I guess I can finally get this project finished up, I found a stock that would fit all the parts I have. The stock came to me cracked through the wrist, actually two pieces, I ended up making the necessary repairs. So if all else failed I still had a pattern. Looks like it will work out ok as I loaded up a few rounds and it did not come apart so were good for now.
Made a set of cleaning rods, Made a new front sight with a silver blade, te original was too low. put the old one in the grip cap storage.
I was suprised as the lack of recoil I was expecting much more, using 270 grain bullets over 42 grains of 4895, did not want to get too heavy a load until I shot it and see how the stock would act.
Really happy how things turned out and appreciate all the help from everyone on the site.

This is what it's about.

I see that your stock has the 'Special Folding Peep Sight' option, popular on original MS Take Down Models.

The recoil has never bothered me on my M1910, but I have always held her tight to the shoulder while firing.

The 'ergonomics' of der Mannlicher Schoenauer were well established and masterfully crafted ,long before the term existed. 'Point and shoot' with instinctive aim was the goal.

You have resurrected a fine sporting arm. Your pride, surely felt, is justified.
