Pretty serious charge.
Dealt with fairly well under the circumstances.

Got into the swing of watching African hunting videos during covid lockdown, and the habit stuck!
Ele and buff charges are high on the watch list!

Exciting times indeed. First shot looked to hit high above and at left side of left eye. Might have been a bit of buck fever or head moved on trigger break.

Just rewatched, the first shot was way too high and way left of center. All kept their cool and worked for a good result.

No hooting, cheering or no over the top back slapping though. Which is uncouth. I know what you mean.

Shaking hands with the PH and trackers and thanking them all is as normal and traditional as a German waidmannsheil, sprig in the deer's mouth, hat band etc. They've provided a service and also risked the danger as well. I think it's normal to shake ones hosts hand in Europe well. At least I've done so.

***

Also such a hunt creates adrenaline in all. Danger. Excitement. While this video is obviously partly recreated, everyone stood their ground and performed.

I see the bull stumbled after the clients shot, may have fallen anyway. The PHs shot next did ensure it was stunned to the ground. Brain missed. But it started to get up again. A tracker shooting, the PH and the client, down on the ground again. A insurance shot to the back of the head.

Exciting ele hunt and video. What "every" clients desires and also dreads, A hunt and story to remember.

I'll have to dig out my cow ele hunt raw footage one day. I've never watched it! I hated watching myself.

I looked several times at this video. Real or bluff charge? Can be difficult to tell unless the elephant stops at a few yards .... But this elephant didn't stand facing them, watching them, just turned and ran. Ears out stretched a little, which can be a bluff when the ears are spread wide. But head down. Not up. Looks pretty determined to come at them. In any case they were hunting a cull or "management" bull so if it fitted that, dropping him was a wise decision. I think it was 100% a real charge.

What do you think and why?

Exciting professional entertaining video.

I'll watch it again.

I wonder what a "management bull" hunt is? Obviously a cull hunt. What is the criteria? Tuskless? Smaller ivory? In the wrong place? Just a cheaper ele bull hunt?

I wonder what the safari price is? Compared to a normal bull ele priced safari?

And if non "Africans" can do bull elephant management hunts?

Australians can't bring ivory home. I'd love 70 lb plus tusks, but a challenging cull bull hunt with no ivory to take home would also be a worthwhile hunting experience.

Proper "Parks herd culls" are often talked about. But off limits to foreigners since the BBC lied, attended, broke their agreed treatment of the issue, and created an anti elephant hunting, culling, anti good conservation, sensationalist TV tabloud like programme.

I think culling a cow or bull is more pleasant than being part of a team shooting a whole herd.

Marrakai, please list some of these which you enjoyed on threads on the NE forums. I'd be keen to enjoy some more, especially good videos not seen before.

PS one day your .400 or .577 should go to the jess.

PPS I've found some more while my dog was playing in the park.
