CZ Brno Express 9.3x74r, opinions please
      #386697 - 07/09/24 01:35 PM

Good day ladies and gentlemen:

I have an opportunity to purchase, for $2700.00 Canadian, a brand new, in the box, CZ Brno Express double rifle in 9.3x74r with quick detach scope mount.

I know nothing about these rifles and was hoping the forum might have information, good or bad about this dr.

I own a couple of sxs but, have been enamoured with the o/u.

I look forward to your replies.

Kind regards,

Carpediem4570

Carpediem4570,

I have one.

Have not yet hunted with it.

Have shot a couple of Big Game Rifle Club matches with it.

I havn't had it long enough to comment on durability.

It was fairly straightforward to regulate with the adjustment screws.

this is my best group at 50m, off a bag, with scope using PPU factory ammo

Based on prices I've seen, CAD$2700 with QD mount would seem to me to be good buying

Anything would be in serious trouble with getting hit with that rig!

Sounds a good price to me.

I don't know the rifle.

I have an U/O Tikka 512,the same as scValmet with barrels in 9.3x74R. I've shot fourteen water buffalo with it,in a cull. Plus scrub bulls, mhorsesdonkeys, pigs and deer.

Cartridge would be useful for anything in North America and Europe. Useful cartridge for driven medium game.

Looks good to me based on Mark's photo.

I already have a merkel 141 ae in 9.3x74r. I love the gun and need another like a hole in the head. I know the Brno is no merkel but I seem to have a need for an o/u.

The covers that enclose the gaps between the barrels. Someone told me they are plastic. Can someone shed some light on this.

Another thought; is the receiver steel or aluminum? What about the hinge pin?

mine appear to be steel

the 'rib' between bbls is metal

my two gripes with it

- extractor
- auto safety - although I think this should be fairly easy for the 'smith to rectify

Can you select which barrel to fire first?

IMHO, that is a nicer looking rifle than the Valmet, which also SHINES in my eye.

lol, hell of a way to split wood. I was out with my merkel dr yesterday. Fun gun but I forgot what the recoil was like. I was at the sitting bench. Next time I use the standing bench.

I noticed merkel makes an o/u dr listed as the model 323. Does anyone have this model? If so, how do you like it and what does a323 cost?

Kind regards,

Carpediem4570
