I would, but none available here at this time. Wallet comes home this afternoon (I hope). I found some 7mm Mauser and .257 Roberts brass in my 'stuff'. I was able to get the .257 brass sized to fit, but not the 7x57 brass. I need new brass in .257 Roberts or 6mm Rem. I suspect even the 7x57 brass will have too thick necks and need outside turning. This rifle seems to have a minimally sized chamber.

Hi Darryl you can basically form brass for the 6.5x57 from anything that has the same head as a 30-06. I use 7x57, 8x57, 270 and even 30-06. They all work.

I am aware of being able to use all standard cases of correct length or longer. I just wanted to avoid having to turn necks or inside neck ream. I picked up two boxes of 6mm Rem. ammo so now have 40 rounds of brass with 20 of them loaded for testing. Not sure when that will happen though.

I expect to get out testing ammo early in October. Too busy right now.

Too bad the listing has gone - sounds like a very nice rifle. 6.5x57 is a really attractive cartridge - in fact if I were to build another rifle that would be it. Those 8x57s are beauties too. Have you worked out what twist it has?

Not yet. Last time home I was pulling bullets and dumping powder & necking them up to make brass. I then loaded a bunch for testing using IMR4831 extrapolating some old data.

Wedgetail, the twist is 9 1/2" as best I could measure it. Found some brass at Intersurplus, same place I bought the rifle from. I loaded up some ammo using 120gr. TTSX bullets at about 2,850fps using Re#17. Shooting rifle at 1/2" to 3/4" at 100 meters. Quite happy with that. It was a good buy. The high scope was a bit weird, but so are most of my air rifle scopes, so wasn't hard to get used to. Snap the rifle to your shoulder and I'm looking through the scope (heads up attitude) with the centre post on what I was looking at. Was going to go out deer hunting yesterday my wife reminded me the freezer is full of fish. LOL
