That reminds me of a video I saw showing tame elk being "hunted" in a guaranteed kill, high fence 350 acre game farm. The guy showing the video was so proud of the elk that he and his dad killed. It was similar to shooting a grazing cow - no sport.

Slightly similar to calling a bull moose to within 10 or 20 yards, then putting an arrow or bullet through him.
Shooting that lion laying down in the shade though, was pretty lame.

Sometimes a hunt is easy by chance. The easy hunts of wild game free range make up for the failed hunts with no result. Other than being out there which is in itself a great reward.

This lion kill went easy. As I said "anti climatic".

The video poster admitted it was South African. And a captive bred lion.

Captive bred lions usual seem clueless, not knowing what they are doing. Lack the flight instinct and the vicious attack mode. I find their killing a bit disgusting.

I remember a video, a lion approached, it just sat, lay under a bush like this one. Never fled or reacted. Clueless. Was shot and just rolled over. Perhaps the same video?

If I booked a lion hunt and within a day just shot a tamish clueless lion, I'd more than disappointed, and feel more than a bit of shame.

I've hunted fenced plains game and deer. Sure fine for venison, a larder game farm. But as "wild" game they usually don't have it the same. Some species do seem to keep an instant flight mentality but there is still a fence.

It's up to the individual to choose but to me captive bred or fenced in small, medium sized paddocks, they're a trophy example animal, not a hunting fair chasse trophy.

20 years ago I took a 6x7 Elk in the Missouri Breaks of Montana, with my bow. It was Pope & Young record book animal. I took it to the taxidermist. When it was done the taxidermist called to come pick it up. So I went there and as the taxidermist escorted me back into the trophy room there were a fair number of very impressive Elk mounts. So I commented there were some very nice mounts and he responded by pointing at an Elk mount on the wall (which turned out to be mine) and said, "No, there is a nice Elk. Those others are game farm Elk, yours was fair chase"
Meant a lot to me and never forgot his words.
