Mick,

to load up a jpeg you need the full address beginning with http:// etc

Try using jpg on the forums address instead. It may work? I thought it did once for me.

Otherwise open and resave the image(s) with a simple photo editor and resave as .jpg

Jpeg is apple based. It may work on newer versions of this software. But not yet.

Regarding the movie file. You need to load it to the internet, a hosting address of some sort. And include the full internet address beginning with http:// etc

Users may need to download it to view it, or can stream it depenind on their own device type and software.

I need some help in posting. I don't use a third party photo hosting software.

As a trial, I tried to post a jpg picture of an LC Smith that I once had. I copied the picture and then tried to post here. Nothing happened; ie, no post.

Is there a way without resorting to 3rd party software?

You need a site or web address to host or store your image on.

Many people have net or cloud storage which might work if it is PUBLICLY accessible.

You have to use third party hosting for your images and videos. Forums won't host your images and videos because of the huge storage that would be required and the cost involved. I may be wrong but Net and Cloud storage for private PC data as John has suggested is not likely to be publicly accessible. I use the free Imgur hosting service, its simple to use and I haven't had any issues to date with it.

It depends on the sort of storage. Many ISP accounts give you X mb or GB of storage as well. These can be 100% accessible. Learn to use free FTP to load up images. Free cheap and easy and lots of storage. Simple and easy. But beyond people thinking pushing beyond a single button is difficult.

You own your own space and control it.

The trouble with photo hosting services is someone else controls it. And decides to bill for it eventually.

Free sites like Facebook and Instagram sell your photos. And may not allow sharing/displaying the images.

But people on here have photon hosting sites that work.

Eagle27,

Is the Imgur site private or do all pictures stored become public pictures?

I ask because I looked at the site and there are a number of pictures posted. Many seem to be somewhat left of center such as calling kid's cap guns disturbing.

Photobucket has taken over my photos. Last time I tried to get into them, I could not as I refused to pay them. They sent multiple warnings.

There is a public image gallery to which you can post images accessible to anyone but account holders images and albums are private and password protected. Standard accounts are free to setup, mine was and I presume they still are. I originally used Photobucket but then they wanted paying for accounts so I came over to Imgur.

Eagle 27,
Thanks for that. I tried Photobucket but am not plannng on paying so would not pay so Imgur is very interesting. Private, password protected is important to me. Maybe I can join the 21st century, 😂😂😂
