A few more from this season up North.

Weather and atmospheric conditions pretty well dictate just how much you accomplish each day. We had heat, cold, low cloud, fog, heavy smoke, sleet, hail from a brief thunderstorm, snow, heavy duty winds, & rain, & any combination of the preceding.

My Kifaru "condo" with Four Dog titanium woodstove, just under 20 pounds total weight for the tipi and stove, pipe, etc., kept the elements at bay.

My ride home, part of the way anyway.

Welcome back, glad to hear things went well. Are any moose or caribou taken out of that area?

That's a lot of dead willow to collect to burn in the stove.

Adam Tayler,

Good to be back........there are few if any caribou in that area.....we've only killed one in the last five years and have seen less than a dozen in that period of time. There are some great moose in the area, but it's so remote, it would cost a lot of money to get the meat and rack out.......two years ago we found a B&C moose, the remains, taken down by wolves. We saw two nice bulls near camp this season. As far as the dead willow goes, I cut most of it up with a pair of long handled branch loppers, the rest with a hand saw.....The Four Dog titanium stove(small one)only burns a little wood to keep the 12 man tipi warm; great piece of gear that stove. Hope your season went well.....I'm leaving in a couple of days for sheep w/a bow......drew a tag.......probably turn into a bear hunt by the time it's over.

Joe

I just got back last night from a moose/elk hunt. Things were still pretty warm but I was able to bugle in a nice 6x6 elk for my buddy. It was his first and grossed 304 5/8 and ended up 296 2/8 net B&C. We saw quite a few moose but only two bulls, one of which was legal. By the time we were 100% possitive, he was leaving through the thick stuff. If I get out again for any of these two, it will only be on weekends and a lot closer to home. November I'll concentrate on mulies and whitetails.

Way to go on your draw; I take it it wasn't for the area you just came from. Awaiting more photos and a story. Good luck.
