Hello all. I'm looking to purchase reloading dies for my George Gibbs 6.5x53R rifle. New or used. Thanks in advance.

I form and load mine with RCBS 6.5x54 Mannlicher-Schoenauer dies and a .303 British shellholder. No problems. G.Gibbs rifle too.

Thanks guys. I've been using my RCBS 6.5 MS dies as well. Call me lazy but I'm getting tired or setting the die for each cartridge. I could look for a used FL MS sizing die but I thought I might see if anybody has a 6.5 Dutch die set. It seems as though the Dutch cases get worked more than my 6.5MS brass. I have the die set to minimize shoulder bump.

CH4D make a set of dies specifically for the 6.5x53R cartridge. There are minute differences between the rimmed and rimless cartridges however most people seem to use the 6.5 MS dies with no problems at all.

While CH4D make dies for the rimmed version it may well be exactly the same reamer used for the rimless, only a cast of the dies for both cartridges from the same manufacturer would show if there is indeed a difference in the dies. No point emailing or ringing to find out, they never seem to respond.

Matt.

Hi Matt
I did give CH4D a call earlier this week. They don't have any 6.5 Dutch dies in stock. They told me that they probably won't get around to making any more until around April of next year. I might just try to purchase another 6.5 MS FL die and leave it set up for my Dutch reloading. I thought that I would try putting some feelers out on a couple of forums that I belong to.

Yeah thats probably the best solution. I bought mine years ago of a guy here in Australia that know one of the owners of CH4D and he buys in a significant number of die sets at a time and then sells them through the used gun sites on occasion. He had about ten sets for sale when I bought them but they all sold very quickly, never seen any for sale ever since.
