Neat little carbine.
      #376290 - 25/04/23 06:23 AM

While searching for a MS to buy I happened upon this little carbine. Auction description: "Bolt action stripper clip fed rifle Chambered in 8x50Rmm or 8x56Rmm, Features, Front added bead and rear added notched sights, Straight pull bolt with safety, Dual set triggers, Checkered wooden Mannlicher stock with cheek rest and bone type nose cap, Metal butt plate, Sling swivels, Barrel Length, 20"". NSN.

Placed a low bid on it just in case and I won it. Think it's a military that's been sporterized with all the bells and whistles.

At first glance it appears to be a sporterized M1895 Mannlicher or variant.

Depending on maker and quality of modifications, it could be quite valuable.

FYI, what is often referred to as a "Mannlicher Stock" is more accurately termed a 'stutzen' (full stocked carbine). As you surely know, not all Mannlichers were full stocked, not all full stocked carbines or rifles were Mannlichers.

A quite nice sporterised Austrian M95 Mannlicher military rifle or carbine. Many more such conversions are shown here:

Great catch casper50! Proof positive that a sow's ear can indeed be made into a silk purse. How hard is it to find ammo or components to make?

best for brass is PRVI 8x56R
bullets have to be long and cylindrical, 200 grains .323 is ok

The carbine arrived today. Shots of all the marks. Chamber cast says 8X50R Austrian Mannlicher.

it would do so if the chamber is big enough in the area of the case mouth the case could expand a little bit to give the bullet free. otherwise the pressure can became uncomfortable high.
